- Atomship video for the first single from debut album "The Crash Of '47"
(atomship isnt a band anymore they broke up couple years back, singer Joey Culver have a new band called Papercut Massacre go support them!) Развлечения
The singer rapid firing the syllables while the guitar riff bends tickles my brain in a very pleasant way.
I remember waking up every Saturday and Sunday morning and turning on my game cube and playing Nascar 2005 and listening to this song and life by seven wiser. That brings back so many memories.
I know you commented years ago but I hope you are doing well
I love that!
hell yeah
I was wondering why this sounded so familiar!
Same!!! On the good ol GameCube
Seen these guys back in 2004 in Baton Rouge with Drowning Pool and Flaw. Good times.
Spotify threw this into my playlist. Didn't match the other songs, but definitely grabbed my attention and earned an instant like. It's amazing how much great music you can miss out on when you believe the local rock station's rhetoric of "only playing the best of" and it's the same 8 bands on rotation.
Late to the game, but still glad I got to hear it.
Same here! Quite a surprise to see this was uploaded in 2006.
I found the cd at a thrift store for a penny it was on the same day the singer passed
It’s always imagine dragons
Spotify has gotten me into so many great bands that I never would have found if they didn't throw them into recommended songs.
@@SweatedPear Try liking one song, then put that on smart shuffle. I keep my like list empty, moving the songs to my yearly Playlist. Every time I like a song, I'll toss it onto smart shuffle and see what else I may have missed.
This should have a TRILLION VIEWS!!!! i feel sorry for the real musicians and music lovers that have never heard of ATOMSHIP.
Same here
Whoever selected this song to be in the Nascar game, thank you for doing so. Awesome memories.
The label originally chose Day of Daze but we thought "a good day to die" as a lyric in the song wasn't the best choice lol
The 2000's are absolutely UNTOUCHABLE truly a different era that will always reign supreme ❤️
Maybe the best that you have known
@@johnknott1064 lemme guess.. you’re an 80’s snob
Not as good as the 90s
I am a friend of Joey's(the lead singer) thank you for your support of Mississippi's locals. Its an awesome thing to get this kind of music out there for all to enjoy. THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING THE EFFORT. Every time I jammed with him was an experience that cant be duplicated.
RIP Joey. Condolences
@@samwinzenburg8103 is he dead? Shit

once I'd heard this song I knew I had to have the album
@@veronicaalleyne find it?
I can't believe today is the first time I've come across this song and band! What a song!! Love from Oz 🦘
I appreciate that!!
This song has been stuck in my head for almost 20 years now. Thank you Nascar 2005. Everybody get plug in your ps2 or get one for 20 beans and play that masterpiece
Or a GameCube! (That's what I played mine on. But Ps2 is the cheaper option. Especially if they get flat one.
A lil catchy isn't it?
My close friend Nathan Slade was such an amazing guitar player. He’s gone but never forgotten
bro he's closely followed by his younger brother. also extremely talented, that man can do anything he wants.
@@kekageddonyt9299 that’s true but i only got to see his younger brother play maybe once but I’ve heard many ppl say he was very talented
Man this take me back. I had Nascar 2005 Chase for the Cup on GameCube and it was a good game. I kinda now regret gettint rid of the game. I may eventually get it back. For a GameCube game it had really good graphics. The soundtrack was excellent too. I just wish there were more genre's then just rock. And dont get me wrong I love rock. Id argue that its been one of my favorite genres on the past few years. Thats coming from a guy that listened to rap and R&B most of his child hood.
RIP Joey :(
R.I.P. Joey Culver 12/31/2020
I just found out today... I hung out with him a few times when he was staying in Beaumont, TX about 8 years ago.
@@mchenryjeremy what killed him
@@trmp9923 I'm not sure. My brother was a close friend to one of his friends basically and thats how I met him. I found out through my brother's friend that he passed. That is all I know.
@@trmp9923 heart problems. He had a pacemaker.
@@KellieLeigh48 did someone else from the band also die
This song literally just popped into my head and I had to look up the Nascar 2005 soundtrack. Thank god for youtube!
Back when games had good music
One of the best songs in 2004 IMHO - My senior year rocked when these guys dropped this album
I got to run lights for this band in Gulfport in 2004ish. It was them, 12 Stone and some other band. Atomship was the highlight of the night.
probably one of the best drummers i've ever heard...sooooooooooo underrated, the whole album, it seems the drums are so emphisized, i mean i cant help but to listen to him more then the rest of the band, but im a drummer myself so i do listen to the drums lol
I'm humbled
@@chadkent1241 holy cow man! Didn’t think 15 years ago I’d ever get a chance to say how influenced I was by that Atomship album especially the drumming, and I’ve always found a way to implement your drumming style in mine all these years later. I’m 35 now, been drumming since I was 11 and every once in a while I pop on that album and it’s an absolute joy to play along, and sometimes exhausting lol cheers Chad! 🤙🏻
@@Throne1607 I'd love that comment if I could!!!
that drummer is pretty daaamn good
I got to shake his hand n we had a conversation about playing drums n other shit. that was back in 06 tho
Very nice guy and he's AMAZING live. best drummer I got to see play live.. His kit is sick
Harley Wise thanks!
No way! THE LEGEND HIMSELF! God I miss you guys. I caught your drumstick in Cloquet, MN back in 03'-04'. Its in my night stand, lol.
he is my drum teacher his name is Chad
Saw these guys in Austin when they were just coming out. They were touring with Cold and Sevendust.
Absolutely amazing concert.
My mother was pregnant with me when she saw them on the same tour, in Michigan. I'm 21 now, wish I could've seen these guys myself
@@natgarbage6771 doubt. This album came out in 04.
That would have been a kick ass concert!
@@sardenia From 12 years later! Yes! It absolutely was! Packed house in a small, now defunct club, called The Backroom on Riverside Street. I got to sing Enemy with LaJon from Sevendust, he took my buddies' pipe and hit the chronic mid-song, got a couple of sticks, ya know, just normal things in the Austin music scene. 😆
I saw this tour and Cold refused the play Stupid Girl. What a let down.
Saw these guys open for 12 stones. Love them ever since.
This band AND album is monumental. How did I not hear of these guys?? Such a gem!
I just discovered this band because the singer is from Papercut Massacre. Too bad this band disbanded though. The songs I've heard from these guys are incredible.
I hope that these guys re-unite with their old singer and get going again
Yeah the vocalist Joey Culver died about over a year ago…
R.I.P. Nathan. You'll be missed...
For real. Still hurts
RIP Joey Culver, the vocalist :(
I met Joey when My Brother showed Up to our house with His New Friend from work. My brother had a band and they Looking for a Singer. When He sang Nutshell in our Living room I got Goosebumps. He did become their singer, that was his First band, But If you Know Joey You won't be surprised when I say It didn't last long. A few years later he came over and Played the Atomship album for Us while they were still working on it. It's still one of my favorite albums.
I wish He would have found whatever he was Looking for, I wish He would have found a better way to Ease His Suffering.
@@timsayre8321 Joey was in other bands previous and his band TEDIOUS opened for us 2 yrs before he filled in for the OG writer/singer Derek Pardoe (he wrote 95% of all lyrics)
@@chadkent1241 yeah I know Derek very well too. Good guy. I vaguely remember tedious too.
I grew up with Nathan Slade, and my real close friend all through school, I was with him just learning how to play at a very young age, I miss my ole buddy and us hanging out and partying together, very hard at times to think about cause my buddy not here anymore.
The drummer is sick. He's the only reason I still listen to the album. I haven't heard anything new from the band and it's been a few years. If the band has broken up someone needs to scoop him up.
and they started on the coast of mississippi. joey is their singer and bass player and he has an amazing voice and song writing ability. they hated bein famous so they broke up. and listen to aliens and also listen to mothra and listen how fast their drummer is
Mississippi 2024 in the house! Merry Christmas!
Rest in Peace, Nathan. We miss you, brother.
One of the best drum tracks ever PERIOD!
June 4th, 2020...still watch this video off and on. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
@ oh my gosh Chad!! How have you been doing lately??!!
@mothership9207 been blessed! I hope you've been well!
Awesome band, very good song and very good album. Such a pity that they disbanded... Mothra especially is a masterpiece!
Marius Iscru they are back
Thanks!!
My favorite song was Mothrn....the drumming on that song was simply breathtaking......
Wow, tanx!
woo, i love this band, hard to beleive that a three man band could make such technical music, but still i cant wait for AtomshipDowns new stuff to come out. hurray, im so i happy i live in biloxi so i get all the news first!
The Crash Of '47 is the name of the CD. Joey, the lead singer is a friend of mine.....He is no longer with the band though. Working on another project but that CD is good.
Joeys dead unfortunately we miss him
Comment comes from Songmeanings
Alright, I see the meaning of this song has completely gone over the head of most.
The pencil is hypothetical. Probably stands for his pride, or his attitude towards life. The song is about a boy contemplating suicide because of his home life that no one else knows about. The last lines and talk about death give this away.
I saw them in concert back in 2004 when they were touring with evanescence. They were the shit. Still love the album
I absolutely loved this whole album, still one of my favorite albums ever ❤I’m almost 40 now and still jam this sh!t 😂my kids even enjoy it😊it’s so sad about what happened to the singer so super talented 😢and the drummer too , hands down one of the best drummer’s I’ve ever heard 👍👍👍
Wasn’t the drummer, Chad Kent is still alive. It was the singer Joey Culver and guitarist Nathan Slade who passed away.
R.I.P Nathan Slade guitarist.
+Hank Moody :'(
Very Bad Crisis Actors I knew the band way back when they were still liquid core.
May he rest... Mohtra did somewhat impression on me... the band was never the same after.
Joey Culver passed away the lead singer
@@ryantaylor62 Oh damn! so young
Still like pumpin this song every once in a while! I wish the radio would play it still
I know that the guitarist passed away years ago, but I still long for music like this. Maybe one day.
Dec 09
I have no idea honestly, but I do know they are on thier third name..and I believe third lead singer, but I will always remember going to see the orginal watership down. and atom ship. no idea what the new group is really like. I do know they are still working construction till they get back up there
I grew up with these guys, and they are amazing. listening to them before they changed thier name to atomship....KEEP AT IT..your friends from MS...
did they ever put out another album?
This Video has been added the The Wind-Up Records Group.
God Bless... RIP Nathan
Used to play shows with these guys back in my old band in Biloxi. These guys were the fuckin shit. Way better before they got this singer, when the old bass player used to sing. That dude fuckin rocked this song!! Ah, the good ole days!!!
im good friends with nathan slade :P (the lead guitarist. he went to school with my uncle, and was related to one of my good friends who passed, and i had no idea until he showed up to the funeral sporting the koolest dreadlocks ive ever seen lol
Joey and Chad are both in Papercut Massacure.
Thank you NASCAR 2005 for introducing me to this.
One of the most complete releases in the history of music
This group got started in Biloxi, Mississippi. I have their first demo. The sound quality was HORRIBLE, but I could really tell that this group had something special goin on. Especially with their catchy riffs, and their metaphoric lyrics. Anyways, Derek, who was the song writer and original lead singer quit the band for personal reasons, and Joey Culver took over. He is now with Papercut Massacre. Every song on this album rocks.
Chad Kent killing it on the drums. Where is he now?
They actually started playing together not too long ago, but then Joey Culver passed away, so I guess Chad probably doesn't play anywhere now
@daleonov i started with the OG singer and songwriter Derek Pardoe in 1998. Joey only replaced Derek in 03 when Derek couldn't continue the journey any longer. I still play every Sunday to a congregation of about 450 in Picayune MS.
😉
@ Rock on, Chad!
thats why i like this song
R.I.P Joey and Nathan
The First Time I Heard This Band Was On Nascar 2005 Game And I Feel In Love With This Song Now I Need To Try To Get The CD
You will prolly have to special order it if you cant find the CD. I think I found it in a Sam Goodies in '05 or '06
The vocalist started a new band and they're in the process of making a new album. The band is called Papercut Massacre. The original members from Atomship created a new band with the original vocalist from Atomship (Derek Pardoe). This band is called AtomshipDown. They are also in the process of making a new album.
Damn, I forgot all about this band.. Listening to them now, is bringing back all kinds of memories I haven't thought about in years.. I believe I first heard this song in a NASCAR video game for the PS2 lol..
atomship is awesome. i encorage people to buy the cd. i first heard of them on the nascar game. to bad they broke up. but they reformed, and they are now called atomshipdown. the sound is more alternative and less metal.
yeah same i dont really tend to care about lyrics too much or the guitar, i pay a little attention to the bass, but obviously being a drummer you have to listen to the drums!:)
Dave McClain (Machine Head), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), John Otto (Limp Bizkit), Chad Szeliga (Breaking Benjamin) and Jason Costa (All That Remains), Brad Wilk (Rage Agianst The Machine) they are the most underrated drummers I've come across
This song reminds me of the years back when I played Nascar 2005
Why must this song be so excellent? :D
I FUCKING LOVE ATOMSHIP
This is like if System Of A Down and 12 Stones had a baby
Same here. I popped that in after a few years just to hear the songs on it.
Saw them live opened for drowning pool they were pretty good!
Don't know how I missed this band growing up.
I remember when yall were the little local Biloxi band Liquid Core with Nathan
im from the uk i love atomship thanks.
yes yes yes!! i couldnt agree more.
buen grupo ! hubiese querido mas videos pero ! arriba ATOMSHIP
lol too true, i remember when their drummer was a dj down here. either way, cant wait for their new stuff. from what ive heard on their myspace profile its gonna be good (btw i love Red)
this band is fucking great it took forever to find them after nascar chase for the cup that i had rented years ago in 2005 getting drunk one night decided to look up old songs that i enjoyed from games i used to play on my gamecube. thank god theres a video for this one
umm to correct you ALL, the orginal name of the group was water ship down, the cd cover even had a pic of the water rabbits. they changed it to atom ship when the orginal lead singer left..and replaced him with one way better...oh and vancleave, not biloxi..thats radio talk to make it sound cooler
LOVE YOU MISS U ATOMSHIP
Miss you guys!
Keep us posted on that? I love the intricacies of Atomship's music and want more of it!
Just discovered this band today. Love it!!

im ready for the next watership down album. i think they should have put more video of chads playing.
Damn this brings me back to high school...
I was once checking easynews and I saw in the title "drummers beware" ❤
These guys just reunited with joey on vocals and Nathan slade's brother on guitar.
i heard about these guys from someone doing a drummer. and i have to say, their drummer is kick ass.
Such an excellent band !
this song is supposed to be real gooffy. i talked to the lead singer joey. he is a real good friend to me
This band and RA should have been way bigger. Damn shame
His voice is FUCKING BRILLIANT
Rad song!
One minute silence in a box
This sure is some solid nü metal. It’s like Drowning Pool without the megahit song.
holy shit i just looked up the bands history and found out they live in my area!
please make new album your music is the best
@StrangleholdPA
dude i know
i rented the game to re-live some old memories like a week ago
love this song
Great they finally somewhat known saw them over 10+ years ago when they weren't known...
amazing band. nice music
Man, I remember this shit, takes me back to junior/senior year of high school, good stuff. Whatever happened to these guys? I only remember this being the only one of their songs that got radio airplay. I personally miss the whole melodic alternative numetal genre phase/craze, I liked it.
